New Video Series Helps Teach Economics

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis has unveiled its Economic Lowdown Video Companion series designed to help high school educators teach economics.  The first of the series, which explores the concept of supply, is available on the St. Louis Fed’s YouTube Channel and web site.

These 96 series were added to FRED from the Census Bureau’s Value of Construction Put in Place release. The data reflect spending in various categories of construction such as public, private, residential and others.

Latest 10-Year Treasury Inflation-Protected Security Series Added to FRED

See the data reflecting the yields to maturity on accrued principal for the 10-Year 0-5/8% Treasury Inflation-Indexed Note, Due 5/15/2021. Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) have principals that increase with inflation and decrease with deflation since they are tied to the consumer price index (CPI). When the security matures, the U.S. Treasury pays either the original or adjusted principal, whichever is greater.
