FRED Adds 31 Transportation Series

FRED has added 31 monthly series related to air carrier enplanements, passenger miles, rail freight carloads, and other valuable transportation indicators from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

FRED Adds 3,251 SNAP Series

FRED has added Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) data for benefits recipients. These data come from the Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates release from the U.S. Census, including both state-level (102) and county-level (3,149) series.

The Philadelphia Fed Is Reviewing the State Coincident and Leading Indexes

The recent benchmark data revisions from the Bureau of Labor Statistics produced greater-than-normal changes to the Philadelphia Fed’s estimating methodology. While estimates for most states do appear to be reasonable, those for some states are not. Economists at the Bank are currently reviewing the estimation parameters for all 50 states; therefore, both indexes will be unavailable until further notice.

FRED Adds 2 Inflation Series

FRED has added two daily inflation series for the U.S. and Argentina constructed from prices posted on public retail websites. These series are provided by State Street and PriceStats.

FRED Expands G.17 Data with 1,857 Series

FRED has added 1,857 series to its Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization (G.17) dataset from the Board of Governors. The new monthly and quarterly series include industrial production and the related capacity indexes and capacity utilization rates.

FRED Adds Experimental CPI Data

FRED has added 9 series from the CPI-E release, an experimental price index for Americans 62 years of age and older calculated by the BLS. NOTE: Users should consider the limitations of this experimental index, which are noted on the BLS release page.

Inclement Weather Delays Some FRED Data

Inclement weather has caused federal offices in Washington, DC, to close Thursday, March 5, 2015. Some data releases have been delayed: The daily release of interest rates (H.15), commercial paper, and interest rate spreads will be published on the first business day these federal offices reopen.

FRED Expands Bank Assets & Liabilities Data with 261 New Series

FRED has added 261 series to its Assets and Liabilities of U.S. Commercial Banks dataset from the Board of Governor’s H.8 release. Most of these series relate to real estate.

FRED Expands HICP Data with 168 New Series

FRED has added 168 series to its Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) dataset from Eurostat. Most of these series relate to the expansion of the euro area to 19 countries.

FRED Adds 5,466 Series of Earnings Data

FRED has added 5,466 series of earnings data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Current Population Survey. Categories include (among others) age, race, sex, occupation, full- or part-time status, and educational attainment.
