2,049 Banking Series Added to FRED

These 2,049 quarterly series are constructed by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis using commercial bank call report data from the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council at the national, state, and Federal Reserve District levels. Examples include net income, assets, equity capital, net charge-offs, and loan loss reserve to total loans.

12 Consumer Credit Series Added to FRED

These monthly series were added to the G.19 Consumer Credit release from the Board of Governors. They focus on student loans, motor vehicle loans, and consumer loans owned by nonprofit and educational institutions.

Bankrate, Inc. Data to Be Removed from FRED

On May 30, FRED will no longer include data from Bankrate, Inc. All 198 series from the Bank Rate Monitor’s Weekly Survey will be deleted from the database.  We had discontinued updating the data on January 9, 2014.

NASDAQ 100 and Composite Indexes Added to FRED

These two daily series, used for financial analysis, come from NASDAQ OMX Group. The NASDAQ 100 Index includes 100 of the largest domestic and international non-financial securities based on market capitalization that are listed on the NASDAQ Stock Market. The NASDAQ Composite Index is also weighted by market capitalization, with more than 3000 common equities listed on NASDAQ. The types of securities in the index include American depositary receipts (ADRs), common stocks, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and tracking stocks. The index includes all NASDAQ listed stocks that are not derivatives, preferred shares, funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), or debentures.
